A long time ago, a professor in college stressed to me the importance of treating each individual you meet with kindness, fairness and respect, saying “You never know who you may need a favor from in the future!” Since then, I have taken that advice to heart, starting a modeling agency in Chicago that treats each client, each model and each industry professional in a way, I hope, will inspire them to treat others. This is the most important piece of advice I can offer anyone wondering how they can succeed in the Chicago modeling industry!
Offer each photographer, each client, and each agent respect, show up on time, and work hard. Since starting here at Ocean Model Group, I can’t count the number of times I have had models show up incredibly late, or not at all. This speaks volumes about a model’s character and my trust in them, when booking them for different promotions and trade shows in Chicago! Of course, no one is perfect–making mistakes is what makes us human, and when you recognize you’ve made a mistake apologize-graciously.
You never know if that Chicago area TFP photographer is the next Annie Liebowitz, or if that model you used for your last portfolio-building photo shoot is the next Heidi Klum! Any Chicago modeling agency will ask the same of you, as well as any respectable client. Remember, “Character is much easier kept than recovered.” ~Thomas Paine
